TTU HOST KASNEB & ICPAK INAUGURAL OPEN DAY

Today, Taita Taveta University (TTU) in collaboration with the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) held its inaugural KASNEB open day. The theme for the event was “Multi-skilling of Professionals for a Demanding Dynamic Market”.

The event drew students from the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (SBESS), School of Science and Informatics (SSI), School of Education (SoE), School of Agriculture, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SAESS) and School of Mines and Engineering (SME).

Mr. Paul Masinde, a Senior Examination Officer from KASNEB exposed students to the history of KASNEB, its mandate, the examinations administered by it, requisite qualifications for the examinations and exam administration.

CPA Ramadhan Ndegwa, the ICPAK Representative of Kwale County, elucidated on the mandate, membership and licensing of ICPAK. He further educated the participants on how ICPAK regulates accountants in line with the professional code of conduct.

Lecturers across the schools of TTU affirmed the need and rationale of multi-skilling for students to ensure they are well suited for and competitive in the labour market. Ms. Mercy Mwithiga, the KISM and KISEB liaison in TTU also informed the students about the available professional course for Procurement and Supply Chain professionals, Certified Procurement and Supply Professional (CPSP).

The event was graced by Prof. Christine Onyango – The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics, Research and Outreach). In attendance was Dr. Dr. Mwakio Mwagandi – Dean, School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, CPA Peter Kisombe – ICPAK Representative Taita Taveta County, Dr. Patrick Kimaku – Chairman, Department of Business and Management Sciences (BMS) and Ms. Anne Nyabuti – TTU KASNEB Coordinator.
