In a bid to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its administrative staff, Taita Taveta University is conducting a comprehensive three-day training program aimed at equipping administrators with valuable skills and strategies to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of higher education.
The program, which started yesterday 5th to Friday 7th March 2025, has an active participation of administrators across various departments within the university. Designed to improve both leadership and operational capabilities, the training provides an array of insightful sessions that is focused on the latest trends, tools, and best practices in university administration.
The opening day of the program centered on fostering leadership development among the participants. Recognizing that strong leadership is crucial for smooth administrative operations, seasoned leadership coaches delivered sessions on University Strategic plan, Admission and record management, students and staff record management, Functions of Secretariat to committees & minutes writing, Staff Induction & Orientation process, Employees & Customers work relations, and Work place communication procedures as a day-to-day administrative duties.
As universities increasingly rely on student numbers to manage their operations, the second day of the training focused on academic programmes as the university core mandate in disseminating of knowledge in administration. The session covered a wide range of academics —from development of academic programmes, Advertising & marketing of programmes, Processing of students transfers, Security & Integrity of examination results, Conducting academic quality assurance assessment, Processing & management of examination, Staff performance appraisal, Role of Supervisors, Complaints handling procedure and Performance contracting,
The final day of the program will delve on Enterprise Resource Planning; The session aim to cover a wide range of technological advancements on the system—from data management to roles of the users. The ERP system’s overall goal is to streamline administrative processes, improve communication across departments, and enhance overall efficiency.
