ANNOUNCEMENT FOR VACANCIES APRIL, 2025

Taita Taveta University (TTU) is a dynamic Public University in Kenya established in 2016 under the Universities Act 2012. It is strategically located near Voi Town and about 8 kilometers off the–Nairobi – Mombasa highway, in the scenic Taita Taveta County. TTU, the Home of Ideas, is a strategic player in national and regional development and an Academic Centre of Excellence with a special focus on Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. To further enhance our capacity in the delivery of high-quality education, training, research, innovation and community outreach, the University is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following positions:

    Must possess the following qualifications:

    1. Masters’ degree in a relevant area from a recognized institution (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry/ Applied Physics, Physics, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering/ Applied Biology, Botany, Zoology) or its equivalent
      1. Three (3) years’ experience as Senior Technologist I or comparable position
      1. Must have hands- on experience on Laboratory equipment
      1. Must have experience in designing and running practical classes

        • REQUIREMENTS
      • Must possess Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology from a recognized institution or its equivalent, and qualifications in any one of the following areas:
        • Knowledge of at least one programing languages (C#, C++, VB, Java);
          • Knowledge of at least one relational database management system (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle);
          • Knowledge of mobile app development platform (Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry);
          • Knowledge of at least two modern web technologies (CSS, HTML, Java, PHP, ASP.NET).
        • –    Knowledge of LAN and WAN topologies and architecture;
          • Knowledge of network equipment i.e. switches, routers, hubs, and associated equipment;
          • Knowledge of PC hardware and components including processors, mother boards, accessories, cards and peripherals.
        • –     Knowledge of Active Directory Services;
          • Knowledge of Client-Server environment; Knowledge of principles and techniques of malware management.
      • Ability to analyze, resolve and communicate customer complaints and concerns.

    1. Must have a Higher National Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology,

    • Three (3) years’ experience as ICT Technician or comparable position and qualifications in any one of the following areas:
      • –     Knowledge of at least one programing languages (C#, C++, VB, Java);
        • Knowledge of at least one relational database management system (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle);

    An Associate Professor MUST have the following:

    1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
    2. At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Senior Lecturer; or six (6) years of research/industry experience or equivalent;
    3. Have a minimum of six (6) articles in refereed journals or minimum cumulative score of Forty-Eight (48) equivalent publication points of which at least thirty-six (36) should be from refereed scholarly journals since appointment as Senior Lecturer;
    4. Supervised at least four (4) post-graduate students to completion, including at least one doctoral student as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent;
    5. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable); and.
    6. Attracted research or development funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow

    JOB SUMMARY

    Teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervision of graduate and postgraduate students and initiating research projects/thesis in the relevant disciplines.

    • SENIOR LECTURER – Grade 13:

    A Senior Lecturer MUST have;

    1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University.
    2. At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
    3. Have a minimum of four (4) articles in refereed journals or a minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
    4. Supervised at least three (3) post-graduate students at either Masters or PhD level to completion as a Lecturer or equivalent;
    5. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

    JOB SUMMARY

    Teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervision of graduate and postgraduate students and initiating research projects/thesis in the relevant disciplines.

    • LECTURER – Grade 12:

    A Lecturer MUST have;

    2. At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as a Tutorial Fellow or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
    3. Have a minimum of three (3) articles in refereed journals or a minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points as a Tutorial Fellow or equivalent, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
    4. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
