TTU opened her gates in 2007 as Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Taita Taveta Campus and later in 2011 was upgraded to a Constituent until 7th October 2016 when it was given a charter to be a fully fledged university.
Due to her very attractive courses, the population in the University has risen to 2000 students undertaking Masters’, Undergraduate, Diploma and Certificate programs. The University has a constant presence of international scholars through its established international linkages with reputable Universities across the world.

The strategy house presents the strategic focus for TTU showing the key pillars (Key result Areas) which the strategy is built on. At the apex is the Vision and Mission supported by three main pillars of Research, Academics, and Outreach. An institutional capacity, Resource mobilization and corporate governance forms the foundational pillars for the strategic plan.
Taita Taveta University (TTU) is a fast-growing Institution located in Taita Taveta County on Voi-Mwatate road, about 8 kilometers from the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. It lies in a serene environment bordering Tsavo East National Park on the east and Tsavo West National Park on the North West, the home of the Red elephants.
